Ksharasutra is an Ayurvedic parasurgical procedure which is mainly for treating anorectal diseases like piles, fistula, fissure and pilonidal sinus. In this technique a specially prepared medicated thread known as Ksharasutra is used to cure the diseases. Piles, fistula and fissure are the common embarrassing and painful problems occurring in the anal region. They keep on annoying the patients at all times and also stain bottom with blood, pus and other discharges.

 

The expense for the treatments of Ano rectal diseases is very high in private sector. To address the above problem Kharasutra Unit is started in Ramavarma District Ayurveda Hospital, Thrissur since 2013. More than 6000 patients are the beneficiaries of the project so far. Benefits of Ksharasutra treatment are non recurrence, absence of side effects and least expense.
