Arogya Mittayi

Edacheri Grama Panchayat, Kozhikode

Many changes have been happening in the daily living patterns of mankind throughout the world, in relation with the pandemic Covid 19. It has also brought out various changes in socio economic and cultural aspects bringing out a ‘new normal’. The long lockdowns and other travel restrictions have affected our children also. Poor peer relationships, restricted opportunities for socialization, changes in food habits, lack of physical activities, changes in sleep patterns etc. had caused adverse changes in physical, mental and social aspects. The project Arogya Mittayi was designed and implemented to tackle such issues of children and their families in a comprehensive manner.

Along with focussing on the comprehensive well-being of children below 18 years of age, it also plans to help the parenting figures to be the role models for their children. Special stress was given to the good parenting practices as part of this project. The project is implemented through the Govt Ayurveda Dispensary AYUSH Health and Wellness Centre with the supports of ICDS Unit in the Grama Panchayat.

Special OP for children, yoga sessions (both online and offline), classes for children and their parenting figures, distribution of booklets with tips on food and lifestyle and counselling sessions are the major components of the project. Comprehensive care for the special kids is also arranged through the Spandanam project of Kozhikode Jilla Panchayat on a weekly basis. The project is monitored by a committee headed by the President of Grama Panchayat.
