Ayursagarasanthwanam
Providing OPD therapeutic treatment procedures for fishermen with work related musculoskeletal injuries. Fishermen group are more prevalent to work related musculoskeletal injuries , which seriously affects their physical endurance which affects their activities of daily living . As per WHO work related diseases are multifactorial where the work environment and the performance of work contributes to the causation of disease. The musculoskeletal disorders are related to highly repetitive tasks with a short circle of time and result in the higher prevalence of symptoms of upper limbs. The project is proposed to implement at Govt Ayurveda Dispensary Kovalam which is situated at Vizhinjam where the workspace includes the highly populated fishermen hub.
Aims of the project
- Effectively manage the musculoskeletal problems of fishermen in Vizhinjam area.
- To improve quality of life and restoration of normal life of fishermen through Ayurvedic therapeutic modalities through OPD management.
Project implementation
The project is under implementation at Govt Ayurveda Dispensary Kovalam, Vizhinjam under Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. Fishermen with Kerala fishermen welfare board membership card are the beneficiaries of the project. As they are more prone to work related musculoskeletal injuries which seriously affects their physical endurance which affects their activities of daily living, they require the benevolence of Ayurvedic external therapeutic procedures along with internal medication. Fishermen will be benefitted with time tested authentic Ayurvedic therapeutic modalities which are found to be helpful in managing Repetitive stress injuries (RSI) of any kind which help them to recover from the injury with minimum scar formation.
