Kerala Accreditation Standards for Hospitals (KASH)

Govt. of Kerala has launched a state level accreditation program, Kerala Accreditation Standards for Hospitals. Kerala is the first and only state in India to introduce state level accreditation programme for Health care organisation. Kerala Accreditation Standards for Hospitals is prepared based on the NABH and Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS). The major emphasis of KASH programme is on sensitization of health care organisations towards importance of quality health care services, involvement of staff for improving the quality of patient services, development review and implementation of policies and procedures for implementation of quality management. Presently, we have 3 KASH level institutions. Efforts are underway to upgrade more institutions to KASH standards. Details of our current institutions are given below. Govt. Ayurveda Dispensary, Meenangadi, Wayanad

Govt. Ayurveda Dispensary, Meenangadi, located in Wayanad district has been assessed and found to comply with KASH – AYUSH accreditation requirements for quality standards in health care facility on 15-06-2021. The certificate is issued on 24-09-2021 and is valid till 14-06-2026.

The primary health care institution started functioning in the year 1961 is found to be exceptionally well functioning in all aspects of clinical, informational, public health and administrative services. The standards of GAD for infrastructure, human resources, equipment, services, monitoring and supervision are being followed as per KASH – AYUSH standards issued by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of Government of Kerala. As the first step, gaps in infrastructure, documentation and functioning were analysed to meet the short term and long-term goals.

Implementation of KASH standards has helped to execute continuous quality assessment in the institution and has recorded system of quality indicators. Documentations are done according to the SOPs. Hospital manual defines the services available and scope of services. Quality, infection control, pharmacy and registration manuals are well maintained. The institution accessible with a distance of 200 metres from road is well equipped with infrastructural requirements as well as human resources.
