The sickle cell anaemia project is a special project implemented by the Indian Systems of Medicine for sickle cell anaemia patients in the Wayanad district. The Project aims to improve the immunity of sickle cell anaemia patients, reduce the severity of the disease and frequency of pain crisis, diagnose new cases through laboratory tests and to create awareness in the society about the disease. Medical camps in grama panchayaths and tribal hamlets, awareness classes on sickle cell disease and laboratory tests for detecting new cases of sickle cell anaemia are conducted as part of this project.
